Ramattra is an Omnic tank hero who represents the game’s first “tempo tank” due to his ability to switch between different forms and access different abilities depending on which form he takes. In his Omnic Form, Ramattra wields a nanite-firing Void Accelerator staff, a weapon with no damage falloff at range which also provides him the ability to cast strong barriers onto the map similarly to how Sigma can. In his larger, more intimidating Nemesis Form, Ramattra instead uses only his fists to both block incoming damage as well as dish out concussive punches which create shock waves in the air. His Ultimate Ability, however, is perhaps the most pivotal part of his kit. Automatically putting him into his bulkier Nemesis Form, Ramattra’s Ultimate also allows him to draw health from nearby enemies which prolongs the duration of his Nemesis Form, allowing for some optimal overtime-stalling.

This is best demonstrated in a clip which was recently shared on Reddit by the user CometAstralix, which shows both teams laying their weapons down as both team’s Ramattras battle against each other in overtime. With both Ramattras using their Ultimate Abilities and drawing health from one another while also receiving healing from teammates, the two players lock themselves in a loop of perpetual combat. As the clip itself shows, plays like this have the potential to drag overtime on far longer than usual.
Although Ramattra’s Ultimate was designed partly with the intention of spicing up moments in overtime, many fans complain that the potential for an endless Ultimate is too much. While his abilities are capable of creating some truly tense moments in Overwatch 2, the potential to create stalemates similar to this one seems to sap much of the excitement out of gameplay.
Ramattra, as well as Overwatch 2’s second season itself, have been received differently by fans since they launched near the beginning of December 2022. Some fans feel that Ramattra and his abilities are underwhelming when compared to the capabilities of other heroes, but other players are adamant that Ramattra provides some of the greatest potential of all the game’s tank heroes. While some of the largest issues for fans remain to be related to the in-game cosmetic shop and its associated prices, others were disappointed with the recent Battle for Olympus event as well.
Overwatch 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
