Because the game has been out for a month, a good amount of players has completed their first playthrough, with a small amount of these players completing everything the game has to offer, including the dedicated Elden Ring and Souls player who completed all achievements. This has resulted in many players running through the game multiple times for fun, but for many players the endgame content is invading.

Thus, many players have been busy figuring out how they should distribute their stats, what weapons they should use, and other things to optimize their PVP builds. This has extended to strategies for invading as well, such as one player who figured out a great Elden Ring strategy to stop bridge campers. However, for two players facing off with halberds, the issue became a problem of a perfectly balanced fight.
Reddit user Atanaphor posted a clip to the Elden Ring Reddit capturing a fight between two halberd players. The two honorably greeted each other, applied some buffs, and got straight down to business. The two threw out some spells to begin, but then faced off in melee combat. What happened next was both hilarious and awesome, as the players began striking each other at the same time over and over. Much like another intense Elden Ring PVP battle, the result was a draw with both players dying at the same time, thus ending an incredible duel between the two halberd users.
For this glorious ending to occur, multiple events had to convene at the same time. For one, the two players had to start by striking each other at the perfect time. Then, they had to continue mashing the attack button, resulting in a chain of attacks. Finally, and most importantly, the only way this outcome could be achieved was if both players were stubborn enough to continue attacking, hoping that their hit would register before their opponent’s. The sheer determination required for the battle’s ending to occur is the best part of it, as both players singlemindedly hit the attack key, refusing to change strategy or give in.
The battle was quite the metaphor for the difficulty of Elden Ring, as for many players much determination is required to fend off some of its toughest encounters. In the case of Atanaphor and their opponent, this determination was not required of either player, but the display was both hilarious and impressive.
Elden Ring is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
