The YouTube channel My Two Pence has put together a short clip which combines Skyrim with the Irish-based comedy Father Ted. Specifically, it’s the scene in which the titular priest converses with local farmer Colm. After a brief exchange of words, Colm questions Ted about whether he’s become a racist. The whole scene plays out with the farmer’s deadpan questioning becoming more and more hilarious, as Ted gets more irritated and defensive.

For anyone who is not familiar with the show, Father Ted is a classic British sitcom. Co-written by Graham Linehan, who would go on to create the cult hit The IT Crowd, it lasted for three seasons in the 90s, ending when Dermot Morgan, who played Ted, passed away in 1998. What’s quite clever about My Two Pence’s mashup is the subtitles have changed some of the words to make it more relevant to the lore of Skyrim. Ted’s name is replaced with “Dragonborn,” and when being accused of having a problem with people from Greece, it swaps it out the word for “Dunmer.” It’s a brilliantly hilarious scene, and a classic from the show itself.
This is also not the first time something like this has been done. A while back, YouTuber Pertinax created a crossover between Skyrim and The Sopranos. In this impressively crafted clip, Tony Soprano can be seen wandering the streets of Whiterun in his bathrobe and white vest, stopping briefly to pick up the newspaper before being accosted by Nazeem asking if he’s been to the Cloud District.
It’s mashups like this that are the reason Bethesda’s open world fantasy game is still going strong, despite being more than ten years old. As a video game that players can sink hundreds of hours into, there is so much for fans to see and do, with people still discovering new things to this day. With any luck, there will be more amusing clips that put famous sitcom characters into the world of Tamriel.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim - Anniversary Edition is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
