RELATED: High On Life: How Long To Beat

9-Torg is a reasonably challenging boss to beat for newcomers to High on Life and tests all player skills acquired in the first couple hours of gaming in the introduction and the slum level. However, the battle becomes easier when players get used to their unique and often hilarious talking weapon abilities, plus the boss’s attack patterns. The fight with 9-Torg has unmarked, repeated rounds, and she also has some need-to-know weak spots and predictable behavior.

Round 1: 9-Torg’s Shooting Attacks

The battle begins with 9-Torg’s shooting attacks as she quickly phases left or right. She starts with a standard, widespread spray of blaster shots that players can mostly dodge by continually moving and hiding behind the level’s boxes before they disintegrate. She also delivers a high-impact, glob-style green single shot that’s slow-moving and easily avoidable if players keep their distance rather than try to attack with Knifey.

It’s crucial to aim for 9-Torg’s head as much as possible using Kenny, as this takes some decent chunks off her health. Players can also use the glob-shot attack to ground her and quickly swipe with Knifey while downed or try juggling her in the air after a glob-shot.

Round 2: How To Dodge 9-Torg’s Lasers

After the blaster shots, 9-Torg briefly dives into the surrounding slime before busting out and surprising the player with a series of single horizontal or occasionally vertical green laser attacks.

If players try to duck, the lasers hit and cause significant damage, but jumping over the laser avoids losing any health. Getting hit by the lasers vastly increases the chances of dying by losing vitality. After jumping, continue shooting here to keep chipping away at her health, watching out for broken sections of the floor.

Round 3: How To Tether Above The Slime

9-Torg’s final trick is to cause the lethal slime to rise, so players must press the LB button on an Xbox controller to use Knifey’s tethering ability to tether to the flying insects above. Players must tether and swing from 1 bug to another for the entire round until the slime levels return to normal, allowing players to land safely back onto the platform below.

How To Complete The Battle And Turn In The Bounty

Rounds 1-3 repeat as players gradually reduce 9-Torg’s health. The battle intensifies when her health is nearly gone, and she tries to take the player down with a single, spinning pink laser. Players only need to continue tethering the insects using Knifey to swing safely in circles. When the laser stops, blast her for a final time with the pistol to kill her, unlocking the First Bounty Down achievement.

When 9-Torg dies, players need to collect evidence of the kill and press the right stick on an Xbox controller to remove her mandible. Players can also decide whether to kill the rescued 5-Torg, who is left vulnerable in the middle of the room. Either way, it’s time to head to the circular door opposite 5-Torg to exit the room and travel back through the slums and back through the tunnel where players entered.

To complete the bounty, head back to the house and speak to Gene before using his machine to cash in the reward and become a fully-fledged bounty hunter.
