During The Game Awards, Hideo Kojima gave fans a sneak peek of the upcoming Death Stranding 2; however, no details were revealed about the project that was signed between Xbox and Kojima Production earlier this year. Back in June 2022, when confirming the project, Kojima stated that the game is something he’s waited a very long time for and that it would be something fans had never seen before, adding even more hype and anticipation for the game.

On December 16, a video of Hideo Kojima was published on the official YouTube channel of Kojima Productions. In the video, Kojima thanked fans for their support over the last seven years as the studio turned seven today. Kojima went on to say that Death Stranding 2 is not the only game they are working on; they are also developing a new game and a few visual projects. He said that he hopes to reveal more information about the new game in 2023.

It’s unlikely that the new game will be released soon, given that the company is entirely focused on Death Stranding 2. Apart from the trailer release at Game Awards 2022, Hideo Kojima spoke briefly about what the Death Stranding sequel will entail. He didn’t give too much away, but he did hint that the story will be less about an isolated society than the first game was.

Kojima is also a master of marketing, and his games often generate a great deal of hype prior to their release. People are searching for Hideo Kojima online at an unprecedented rate since the Death Stranding 2 reveal at The Game Awards. Google Search Data reveals that searches for Kojima increased by 3866.68% following the announcement of Death Stranding 2. This is a clear indication that Kojima is one of the most popular game developers out there right now, and with good reason.
