The show was full to the brim with godly power levels (literally!), new powerful characters, and the introduction of a multiverse as well. All of a sudden, Dragon Ball was on everyone’s minds once again. One of the characters introduced in the series, Hit, was warmly received from the fanbase as well. Here are some things about this character that you might not be aware of.
10 His Name Contains The First Part Of The Japanese Word For “Assassin”
The inspiration behind the name Hit should be pretty evident. Aside from the literal meaning of his name, Hit is also the first half of the word “hitman”.
However, his name holds a deeper meaning in Japanese as well! Hit is also the first part of the Japanese word “hitokiri”, which translates to assassin.
9 He Made Goku Shake In Fear During Their Battle
Most people don’t like to admit that a fearless warrior like Goku would experience fear in any battle. Perhaps this is why most people don’t really remember the moments when Goku was so scared that he would start shaking in battle.
However, this has happened three times in the series, with the first two instances coming against Raditz and Frieza. The third instance when Goku shivered in fear during a battle… was against Hit!
8 Hit Was The Only Universe 6 Fighter Not Eliminated By A Fighter From Universe 7
The Tournament of Power was easily one of the best arcs in the manga by a country mile. It featured some insane duels and powerful fighters who would stop at nothing to preserve their universe.
The sister universes 6 and 7 had their fair share of battles during this arc, with almost every member of Universe 6 being eliminated by a member of Universe 7. The only exception to this was Hit, who was knocked out by Jiren instead.
7 His Blood Is Purple
Since Dragon Ball Super was being marketed towards a younger demographic, there was a dearth of blood and gore as compared to Dragon Ball Z. This might not be a huge deal, but it did prevent people from finding out about the anatomies of certain other races.
This is perhaps why most people aren’t aware that Hit actually has purple blood. It’s a small fact about this character, but the lack of blood in the series means that fans were kept in the dark when it came to this aspect of Hit’s body.
6 Hit Doesn’t Have Any Traditional Ki Attacks In His Arsenal
Hit is easily one of the most powerful fighters in Dragon Ball Super. His Time-Skip ability is easily one of the most powerful abilities in the series that can help him get an advantage against any fighter.
However, one thing to note about Hit is that he doesn’t have any traditional ki attacks to speak of at all. Instead, he relies on pure strength and some nifty use of his Time-Skip ability to overpower his opponent instead.
5 He’s Only One Of Three Characters In The Series Who Has The Ability To Manipulate Time
Hit’s Time-Skip ability is an extremely unique technique. The fact that he can manipulate the fabric of time itself to increase his power makes him an incredibly powerful fighter indeed.
In fact, he’s only one of three characters in the main series who’s shown the ability to manipulate time. The other two characters are Guido and Whis, with a special mention given to Chronoa who has appeared in Dragon Ball Xenoverse as well.
4 He Actually Managed To Kill Goku
The fillers of Dragon Ball Super were ignored by the majority of people who didn’t want to waste their time watching pointless content. However, there was a major development during a filler arc that most people aren’t aware of.
In a bid to fight Hit at full strength, Goku decided to hire Hit to assassinate himself! This results in two intense confrontations, with the former ending in Goku’s death! It was only one of Goku’s falling ki blasts that shocked Goku back to life and prevented the Dragon Balls from having to be used.
3 He’s Not The Only Assassin Goku Has Fought
Given Hit’s unique role of being an assassin in Universe 6, most people would think that he’s the only hitman that Goku has fought in the Dragon Ball series. However, that’s nowhere near the truth.
Fans of the original Dragon Ball series would remember hearing about a character called Mercenary Tao. While he might be an irrelevant character right now, he was extremely powerful during his heyday and gave Goku and his friends a tough time in battle!
2 Goku Is Yet To Win A Fight Against Hit
Vegeta isn’t the only rival of Goku who is yet to be bested by the latter in a fight. That honor goes to Hit as well!
Goku and Hit have exchanged blows three times over the course of the anime. Goku gave up the first time (although he did have the upper hand in this fight), Hit straight up killed Goku in the second fight, and both fighters collapsed from exhausting in their third bout.
1 Hit Is Extremely Weak In The Manga As Compared To The Anime
In the anime, Hit is one of the most powerful fighters in the series who could absorb blows from Super Saiyan Blue Goku who was powered up by the Kaio-ken as well. He also managed to trap Jiren and hit him with his techniques before getting knocked out.
However, in the manga, Hit is nowhere near as strong. He can barely stand up to the might of Super Saiyan Blue Goku and doesn’t stand a chance against Jiren. Most people are glad that Hit is made considerably stronger in the anime since it led to more iconic moments over the course of the series.
