While Dragon Ball GT was nowhere near as memorable, there’s no denying the fact that the Dragon Ball fandom still loved the developments in this show and wanted a continuation of the same. This is where Dragon Ball AF entered the scene, with numerous fan creators making new Dragon Ball content with the AF moniker. Here are some things about the characters in this series that most people failed to notice.
10 Ize’s Character Design Is A Combination Of Frieza And Cooler
Ize is the antagonist of the first arc in Young Jijii’s Dragon Ball AF. He might be the son of Frieza, but his character design is reminiscent of Cooler as well.
Each of Ize’s transformations takes bits and pieces from both fighters. It’s a great way to pay homage to the predecessors of his dying race.
9 Ize Stated His Power Level Is Ten Times Greater Than Frieza’s, But That Isn’t Much
After approaching Earth’s defenders, Ize proudly proclaims that his base power is ten times greater than that of his father. Everyone around Ize is visibly shocked, but that shouldn’t be the case.
The Z Fighters have fought villains who were a hundred times powerful than Frieza at the very least. Along with this, Ize is obviously way stronger than his initial proclamation, which makes this entire moment rather odd.
8 Gohan And Vegeta Transformed Into Super Saiyan 4 Without Blutz Waves
In both Toyble (Toyotaro’s pseudonym) and Young Jijii’s versions of Dragon Ball AF, Gohan and Vegeta both show the capability to transform into Super Saiyan 4. However, this shouldn’t be possible without the Blutz Waves, which helped Vegeta regrow his tail for the final confrontation against Super Shenron.
It’s possible that Vegeta and Gohan trained so hard that they didn’t need the tails anymore to transform into Super Saiyan 4. This explanation certainly makes the most sense.
7 Xicor Has Divine Ki, Perhaps Making Him A Passive Super Saiyan God
Xicor is the result of a cross between a Saiyan and Kai. This literally makes him a Saiyan God and one of the most powerful beings in the universe.
Perhaps this is why Xicor’s base form is stronger than a Super Saiyan 4 — he possibly houses the power of a Super Saiyan God in his normal state. This remarkable origin story could possible make Xicor one of the strongest characters in the entire universe!
6 Xicor Might Have The Dormant Power Of A Super Saiyan 5
Xicor’s hairstyle is quite notable, with this white hair sporting two black locks that are raised upwards in the shape of a demon’s horns. While this might be nothing more than a way to experiment on his character design, the truth could be something else entirely.
The fact that he can overpower a Super Saiyan 4 with ease might indicate that he houses power that’s equivalent to that of a Super Saiyan 5. Nothing more can be gleaned from this fact, given that Toyotaro stopped drawing new chapters of Dragon Ball AF after being selected to work on official material for the series.
5 Trunks Is More Naturally Gifted Than Goten
In both Toyble and Young Jijii’s Dragon Ball AF, readers have noticed that Goten always gets whooped left, right, and center. Meanwhile, Trunks is mostly able to hold his own in battle.
This could be indicative of the fact that Trunks is simply more gifted than Goten. The fact that the form manages to transform into a Super Saiyan 4 of his own will in Young Jijii’s Dragon Ball AF is further proof of the same.
4 The West Supreme Kai Is Way Stronger Than Expected
The West Supreme Kai is one of the wildest characters in Toyble’s Dragon Ball AF. She managed to take Goku’s genes to create a powerful warrior that could threaten the entire universe.
In fact, she also seems to be fine even after being on the end of what most people assumed to be a fatal ki blast from Kid Buu. It clearly shows that the West Supreme Kai is way more capable than what most people give her credit for.
3 Toriyama’s Original Characters Are Superheroes In Dragon Ball AF
Near the start of Toyble’s Dragon Ball AF, Goten’s version of The Great Saiyaman is seen checking out a list of the top 100 superheroes. The main point of this scene is to show that The Great Saiyaman is ranked at the very lowest… but there’s an easter egg here that most people might not have noticed.
Most of the names present in the list are original characters created by Toriyama. It’s a great way for Toyotaro to pay homage to one of the most influential mangaka and his early works.
2 Broly Actually Wants A Peaceful Life
Broly is one of the most gifted Saiyans in the universe of Dragon Ball. However, as a result of his tumultuous childhood, he ended up turning into a bloodthirsty monster who had only one goal in mind — kill Kakarot.
However, Dragon Ball AF expands on this character’s motivations after he’s brought back to life so that Goku could come back to Earth. It’s clearly shown that Broly is jealous of the peaceful life that Earth’s Saiyans are living, and wants to enjoy the same as well!
1 The Super Saiyan 5 Transformation Could’ve Been The Inspiration For Ultra Instinct
While this might be a stretch, the focus on silver-white hair in both Super Saiyan 5 and Ultra Instinct is pretty telling. This is further compounded by the fact that the artist for Dragon Ball AF and Dragon Ball Super are one and the same.
So, it’s easy to see why Ultra Instinct might be a more muted version of Super Saiyan 5. It’s definitely a great source of inspiration.
